Heather Overcash has been riding and training many breeds of horses for a little over 16 years. Her mother’s brother-in-law and nephew were well established ranch owners and trained, bred, and raised American Paint Horses in North Carolina. At an early age, when she would visit their ranch, Heather was recognized by her uncle and cousin as having a gift with horses. This gift was what they described to her as a possible horse whisperer as she was not afraid to be in the same stall with an angry stallion and able to just stand there with him and hold her hand to his muzzle to ask for friendship. This was the very beginning of her “molding” into becoming the horsewoman she always dreamed of being. When Heather returned to South Carolina at the end of each summer, she would practice what she had learned on the horses at local barns that she worked at. This was the starting of her still growing training business.
In addition to the primary focus of natural horsemanship training, Heather began to add new techniques of her own to create a personalized style of training. Heather hopes these students will follow these ways as they will hopefully start to appreciate the need for natural, easy going, and sound positive training and guidance.
